Another Hurricane? You can't be serious

After putting our house on the market in July, we had at least 4 near miss tropical systems in the Houston area. Our house was on a canal and only 8'6" above sea level. We flooded in 2008 due to Hurricane Ike. So hurricane after hurricane set our nerves on edge, to say the least. One flood and our dream would float away.
We were so lucky not to have been hit directly by any of them. We sold the house and drove to Florida to get the boat ready to sail away. When we arrived the boat was already on the hard getting a new bottom. The yard doesn't allow us to work on the boat while its there so we haven't been able to do much other than measure for projects and buy what will be needed.

And then came Eta. This drunken tropical system first hit Nicaragua as a Cat 4. It then swung over land and headed to Cuba. The maps and computer models looked nuts. This thing is taking 90 degree turns headed for South Florida, out into the gulf, and then back here to the Tampa area.

And so we wait. The boat remains on the hard. Local landfall keeps changing. It looks like it will hit us on Thursday or Friday now. Hopefully we can get the boat in the water on Friday and we can get started. I'm so impatient. I just want to go. For now we'll just sit around the AirBnb watching movies, reading and cooking. I know I shouldn't complain. We are about to leave on an amazing adventure. I just really really want to go now!

I can imagine you are very antsy. I am antsy for you! Hang in there. I am just so glad you are safe. ❤️
